Creating Inclusive Movement Spaces
Practical Foundations in Trauma-Aware & Inclusive Teaching
[SHOULD THERE BE SOME SUBTITLE TEXT HERE?]
Every student experiences movement differently.
As movement professionals, we have the privilege of working with people from all walks of life. Every person who enters our classes brings their own experiences, expectations, abilities, and relationship with themselves & movement.
This one-day workshop has been designed to help you create movement spaces that are thoughtful, welcoming, and inclusive through practical, evidence-informed teaching principles. These are principles that I bring into every class, event and offering and also filter well beyond the movement space!
Rather than focusing on trauma as a diagnosis or asking you to become a trauma expert, we'll explore how simple shifts in our teaching, like our language, the choices we offer, the way we structure our classes, and the way we communicate can have a meaningful impact on the student experience and ripple far beyond the class space.
Whether you teach yoga, Pilates, fitness, barre, dance, or another movement modality, this workshop will provide practical tools that can be integrated into every class you teach.
When we teach movement, we're teaching humans — with histories, experiences and relationships with their bodies that we may know nothing about.
What we’ll explore
Throughout the day we'll explore:
The differences between trauma-aware, trauma-informed, and trauma-sensitive principles, and what each means within movement spaces.
Common misconceptions and what trauma-aware teaching is not.
Why these principles matter—not only within movement spaces, but across our communities.
The role and scope of practice of movement professionals.
Choice, agency, consent, and autonomy in teaching.
The power of language and creating more inclusive cues, small simple shifts can have a big impact!
Accessibility and practical ways to create welcoming movement experiences.
Understanding why every student's relationship with movement is different.
Responding thoughtfully and ethically when emotional experiences arise in class.
Responsible and ethical marketing within the wellness industry.
Practical strategies you can immediately begin applying in your own classes.

You're learning from someone who doesn't just teach restorative yoga, I continue to guide the practice every week across multiple studios, through private sessions, teacher trainings, retreats, and long-standing restorative events that have been refined over years of teaching.
This training is shaped by real experience, not theory alone. Every sequence, cue, prop set-up, and teaching principle has been explored, tested, and refined in the studio with hundreds of students.
Alongside my teaching, I've spent over 15 years working in mental health and community support. That experience has deepened my understanding of how people experience rest, the importance of thoughtful language, and the value of creating classes that are welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse people in front of us.
I believe restorative yoga deserves to be taught with the same level of care, curiosity, and skill as any other style of yoga. It's far more than arranging props or holding shapes for long periods of time—it's a practice that asks us to thoughtfully consider sequencing, language, pacing, and the overall experience we're creating for our students.
This training isn't about rigid rules or teaching a single "right" way. It's about giving you the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to teach restorative yoga with depth, intention, and understanding, while developing a teaching style that feels authentic to you.
Yoga teachers, Pilates instructors, fitness professionals, barre teachers, dance teachers, personal trainers, and anyone who facilitates movement and wants to create more thoughtful, inclusive, and responsive spaces.

Words From Students
“I wish all classes were like Andrea’s”
Andrea is such a gentle, warm teacher. Her classes hold the most beautiful space to have the practice your body most needs in the moment. As someone with c-ptsd, finding a teacher thoroughly grounded in trauma informed yoga and teaching practices, coming to Andrea’s class feels like finding a safe place to land.
Not just in her teaching - from sign-up, to the space, to cueing, to finishing through class, Andrea’s intentionality and experience is evident.
- Student testimonial
I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn from Andrea.
It is evident that she embodies what she teaches, so much of the content landed because her delivery mirrored the principles she was guiding us through. The lessons were short and easy to take in whilst reaching a level of depth that really sunk in and helped me to feel confident in guiding this practice. Not only am I now confident to share a restorative practice, but I am also a stronger, more confident teacher. Thank you Andrea for sharing your wisdom.

“Andrea’s cues are soft, warm, and genuinely supportive, guiding you gently back to yourself.”
Andrea is, without a doubt, the most nurturing and grounding yoga teacher I’ve ever experienced.
Her restorative and yin classes are a true gift and every session feels like a safe space to completely let go. Without fail, I find myself tearing up from the sheer sense of wholehearted safety and calm she creates.
Andrea’s cues are soft, warm, and genuinely supportive, guiding you gently back to yourself. One of my favourite things she says is that it’s your time, you can use it however you like even if you just lie there in one shape for the whole class.
That permission, that compassion, makes every class feel deeply personal and healing. Her voice is incredibly soothing, her energy is grounding, and her approach embodies everything restorative yoga is meant to be.
I can’t recommend Andrea highly enough, her classes are truly an experience for the mind, body, and heart.
