I educate movement teachers to guide inclusive, supportive and student centred classes.
Informed by knowledge from over a decade working in the mental health and trauma support sector.
A yoga teacher and mental health professional with over 15 years of experience holding space for others.
I’m Andrea Bruce.
My work sits at the intersection of yoga, mental health, and trauma-informed principles - creating inclusive spaces that support agency, self-awareness, and honour choice.
Through courses and workshops, I teach and mentor other teachers to lead with the same principles. Always guiding from a non-judgemental, non-hierarchical presence — and committed to embodying the practices I share.
Approach
My teaching approach is grounded in simplicity, choice, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. I teach from a non-judgemental, non-hierarchical lens, creating classes that feel spacious, supportive, and inclusive. My intention is that students feel empowered to explore their practice in a way that feels right for them.
Experience
I’ve worked across many sectors — including youth refuges, homelessness services, family violence, the justice system, eating disorders, and mental health. This experience, particularly supporting people living with complex trauma, deeply shapes the way I teach today.
Intention
My intention is to empower every student to make their practice their own — to meet themselves exactly where they are, in each moment. I support this through the language I use in class, and I share these principles with other teachers through my courses and training so we can all work towards creating safer more supportive movement spaces.
A space for movement teachers and yoga students.
My intention when I first trained as a yoga teacher was clear. That anyone — no matter their body, background, or experience — could walk into my class and feel supported, welcomed, and safe to move in a way that felt right for them in that moment.
I carry this intention into every class I teach, weaving in trauma-aware principles, inclusive language, and thoughtful sequencing — grounded in both personal and professional lived experience, including over a decade in the mental health sector.
This background informs how I support people to practice yoga: by offering safe, simple, and supportive spaces that honour choice, agency, and self-awareness — commitment to depth and connection, transparency and trust, and showing up in ways that feel authentic and relatable.
Now, I’m sharing these same foundations with other teachers — so together, we can create safer, more inclusive movement spaces.
